The movies that were adapted from good books that I wanna watch

February 6, 2010

Dear John. Who wouldn’t love Nicholas Sparks? He makes good novels. He makes good use of his imagination. I was so hating myself when I saw The Notebook (2004) just last month. I thought I’ve been missing half of my life all the time I haven’t watched it. So I promised myself, as soon as I saw the poster of Dear John in the cinemas that I am going to watch it while it’s still in cinemas. I must not miss it.

Dear John is directed by Lasse Hallström, and is starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.

The Lovely Bones. I wasn’t familiar about Alice Sebold until some Facebook application recommended her book, The Lovely Bones, to me. Then, just before buying her book, I noticed in cinemas that there were already posters screaming that the movie will be shown very very soon. Surprised, I hurriedly looked for the book in Powerbooks Trinoma but they’re out-of-stock of it. I’m gonna buy that someday. And someday, I’m gonna learn what this book is all about (I don’t want to spoil myself).

The Lovely Bones is directed by Peter Jackson, and is starring Saoirse Ronan.

-

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Almost the same with The Lovely Bones, Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief wasn’t at all familiar to me. If not for my bestfriend’s wish this Valentine’s day, I would still be ignorant to what this book is all about. Well, she want it, I must want it. And it’d better be good.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is directed by Chris Columbus, and is starring Logan Lerman.

Aside from these three movies, I am also looking forward to seeing Alice in Wonderland, Legion, Leap Year, The Princess and the Frog, and Valentine’s Day, among others in the big screen.

Ooh.

I’m imagining stress now flowing like a river out of my body

January 26, 2010

Today’s going to be one of the longest days of my life. Wish me luck, lots of it.

A product of pressure

January 23, 2010

With full conviction yun. *pressure*

Ayan, this is very spur-of-the-moment-y. Bigla ko na lang naisip. May update kasi sila Ate Kurly, Ate Milka, Basil, Cathy, Ivan, Jervis at Winwin kaya napressure uli ako. Hahaha. That’s all. Bow.

YAHOO!

January 18, 2010

One of the moments of my life: searching for my brother’s name from thousands of UPCAT’s passers’ list.

It is a rainy Monday morning and I am riding a bus alone to Manila to spend another week again studying/procrastinating. As always, I think about things, many things. One of the things that run through my mind is about the UPCAT results, which is rumored to be out already. I dismount from the bus when we arrive at Quezon Avenue.

I am riding a cab to UP, generally because I live there. I have decided to finally pass by the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) to take a glance if ever the results are really out. I asked for the taxi driver to wait for me. And I am so surprised. They are really out. As a matter of fact, students from I-don’t-know-and-I-don’t-care-about schools are there crying/talking to their parents on the phone/jumping out of joy. I enthusiastically looked for my brother’s name: Sarrondo, Lorenz Edward Serrano.

I looked for the ‘S’ surnames. I passed D and M and finally R. Beside R was S. Sarmiento, the first name I saw. Sarmiento . . . more Sarmiento. Then finally, Sarmiento again.

YES. I finally found his name after the action-packed search. SARRONDO, LORENZ EDWARD SERRANO. UP Manila. BS. Development Studies. Then I looked for Charca’s name. I found it, too. MANILAY, CHARMAINE CAMILLE (i fugut the middle name). UP Manila. BS Public Health. Then their close friend, Steph. I found it, too. CATINDIG, STEPHANIE NATHY (dunno the middle name either). UP Manila. DPWAS.

Then I almost cried. Then I hurriedly went back to the cab. And rejoiced.

CONGRATULATIONS to all three of you. May you use this opportunity to make your lives more colorful, and though hard at times, more worthwhile. :)
